Bieber Fever is particularly heated in Norway. Five schools in the Alesund region (hours outside Oslo) will move their midterm exam dates so that students can attend Justin Bieber’s Believe tour stops at the Telenor Arena on April 16 and 17.
Perhaps school officials are just trying to avoid the madness like Bieber fans caused in the streets of Oslo last year. Bieber seemed after the country’s Ministry of Education and Research confirmed the rescheduling, tweeting “love this” in response to the report.
Meanwhile, Kristin Halvorsen, Norway’s education minister said in a statement to the Associated Press, “I am concerned that students should be concentrating when they take tests and midterms. The local schools have the responsibility to schedule the local midterms, and if they think there is any reason to change the dates, they have authority to do so. We’ve all been 14 years old and know that interests can be intense.”
According to the Wall Street Journal, the 500 students in that region will now take the exams on April 10 and 11. Roar Aasen, the principal of the Blindheim secondary school in Alesund, added, “We considered that this was a battle that we could not win this time.”
